Black and White Photographs of Paris from the 1980s onwards
I’ve accumulated a rather large set of black and white photographs of Paris that matter to me. In this era of fast everything presenting them on-line proves difficult.
Organise them in sets by places or neighbourhoods or themes ? Chronologically ? By form ? Play them off one another ? Connect them ? When is a portrait of someone I love taken in Paris become a portrait of Paris with someone I love in it ? What’s a good size for a gallery ? What’s a good size for a photo on screen ?

In the end, I’ve decided to do a bit of all that whilst resting on the logic of places ,which explains why some photos might appear in more than one gallery. There is also the problem of language. For now I’m posting initially English and will work to adding French. I’d considered presenting each gallery in two versions, one small for fast loading on small devices and one large for desktop machines, but too small and the minimal quality is just not there.
To keep loading times reasonable and bearing in mind the modern world’s hastiness when consuming anything, I’ll try to put no more than twenty images in any gallery, most galleries will have considerably less…with one exception, a crazy :
